From Mumbai
Goa is the easiest long-weekend escape a Mumbai traveller has. It is close enough to reach overnight yet far enough to feel like a different country, and because we plan every trip from Mumbai ourselves, we build the journey around how you actually leave the city — not around a template written for someone flying in from Delhi.
Plan this trip on WhatsAppThe Konkan Railway route from Mumbai to Goa is one of the most scenic train journeys in India, crossing hundreds of bridges and tunnels through the Western Ghats. Overnight services from Mumbai reach Madgaon (Margao) in roughly 10–12 hours, so you sleep on the train and wake up in Goa. Book well ahead in peak season — Konkan sleeper berths sell out fast.
Direct flights from Mumbai reach Goa in about an hour. Both Dabolim (GOI) in the south and the newer Mopa / Manohar International (GOX) in the north are options — Mopa is more convenient for North Goa beaches like Calangute, Baga and Anjuna. We match the airport to the part of Goa your itinerary is built around.
It is roughly 560–600 km from Mumbai to Goa on NH-66 down the Konkan coast, about 11–13 hours of driving. It is a genuinely enjoyable self-drive or private-cab route broken with a halt around Ratnagiri or Ganpatipule, and it is the right choice if you want to carry your own gear or explore the coast on the way.
November to February is Goa's peak — dry, mild, and the reason most Mumbai families travel then. March to May is hotter and quieter with lower rates. The monsoon, June to September, is a completely different Goa: green, empty, dramatic, and cheap, but many beach shacks and water sports shut down. Tell us which of these you want and we plan accordingly.
Because you are starting from Mumbai, the smart move is an overnight train down and a flight back (or the reverse) — you lose no daylight to travel and you see the Konkan coast once. We handle the ticketing either way.
For a Mumbai traveller, 3 nights / 4 days is the sweet spot for a long weekend — enough for both a beach stretch and a day of sightseeing without burning leave. 5–6 nights lets you split North and South Goa properly.
The train is cheaper, scenic and lands you in Goa rested after an overnight journey. Flying saves a full day and makes sense for a short trip. Many of our Mumbai guests take the overnight train one way and fly the other.
The monsoon (June–September) and the shoulder months (March–May) have the lowest hotel and package rates. Peak-season prices run mid-November through early January, especially around Christmas and New Year.
